Dad Be’ats Man Who Followed His Daughter Into Restroom, Judge Issues Sentence

41-year-old father Melvin Harris ple’aded to ma’nslaug’hter.

The Phoenix father who maintained he kil’le’d a man while protecting his daughter had been originally ch’arg’ed with second-degree m**der in 2018.

The incident, which occurred on August 2, 2018, unfolded after Harris arrived at the QT near 19th and Dunlap avenues. When his daughter walked out, she said that a man had tried to enter her locked stall in the women’s bathroom.

Security esc’orted the man out, and Harris’ daughter pointed him out. Harris approached the se’curity guard and stated that he was going to take care of the situation himself.

According to witnesses, Harris pu’nc’hed Leon Armstr’ong in the face, kn’ock’ing him to the ground. He be’a’t him up some more then left.

Armst’rong suffered a severe br’ai’n in’jur’y and die’d a few days later.

Harris’ sen’ten’cing is scheduled for December 13.
