‘I don’t know how to say how incredibly impressed I am to be a part of this show’: The talented actress expressed her appreciation as she took out the show’s first acting Emmy at the ceremony.
It was in the middle of the Nokia Theatre in the city’s Downtown district that Uzo found herself on stage and face to face with the famed Oscar winner.
Looking demure in a long white gown, the talented actress could barely contain herself as she stood across from Freeman and prepared to take her trophy from him.
Freeman stood with a poised smile on his face and later watched as Uzo delivered a gracious acceptance speech to the star-studded audience.
With tears in her eyes, she said on the podium: ‘I don’t know how to say how incredibly impressed I am to be a part of this show.’
Upon hearing that she had been nominated, Uzo previously told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘I just can’t even believe it. I’m speechless.’
‘We worked on this show and spent time together really just trying to tell a great story and invest in each other’s performances. It just feels good to know that people love the show as much as we love making it.’
