Quavo Backs Out Of Grammys, Says The Show is No Longer Relevant And Thinks It’s Time To Develop “Our Own Awards”

It appears that Quavo and possibly Migos have opted out of the Grammys in favor of J. Prince’s plan to stage a hip hop concert at the same time.

According to TMZ, The rapper told them that the Grammys are no longer relevant. He thinks it’s time to develop “our own awards… that respect the genuine s**t going on in the streets.”

Quavo also believes the Recording Academy’s classification of his genre is outdated, calling it an “old language,” especially given that rappers like him are the ones doing the creating.

Earlier this week, J. Prince called on hip-hop artists, including Ye, Drake, and Nicki Minaj, to protest against the Grammys and host an anti-Grammys concert.

The move comes in response to Kanye West being banned from performing by the Academy due to “concerning online behavior.”
