Alabama Teen Photographed Walking At 5AM to Catch the Bus To His Graduation Is Gifted With Brand New Car. – Video
An Alabama teen student, who went viral as he was spotted walking en route to his high school graduation day in full cap and gown receives a car as a gift. The photo of the student, Corey Patrick was captured by a passerby when he was on his way to a bus stop in Birmingham so he could get to his graduation.
A 19-year-old teen’s family doesn’t own a car, however, he was motivated enough not to miss the opportunity to take his diploma from Tarrant High School.
Corey used to wake up at 4:30 a.m just to reach the school. His family transferred just before his senior year to the West End neighborhood, which is around 10 miles from his school; however, it takes approximately 90 minutes to reach on public transport. As Corey wanted to complete his senior year with his friends so he decided to walk every day early morning. Corey said to WBRC, “ I had to do what was necessary for me to walk this year.”
His mother Felicia White said, “ the other family members ultimately arranged to find a way to get to the school in time for his graduation.” When the picture of Corey went viral on social media, local radio host Rickey Smiley asked his followers to help him to find Corey. Rickey then gifted Corey and his family a brand new car in honor of his commitment and endurance.
Corey’s mother said, “He’s a great young man. He’s very quiet, reserved, humble and he gets a little hard-headed sometimes, but he’s a very obedient child and I’m proud of Corey.” “Corey was getting up at 4:30 a.m and had to be at the bus stop at 5:41 a.m for the last year.”
“Even when he would get out of school he couldn’t get from that side of town until 5:19 p.m when the bus ran back over there.
So he doesn’t make it back this way until about 6:30 or 7 o’clock.” his mother said.
